In the back of my mind I knew that at some point you were going to face a battle you couldn't win, but in my heart I'd always thought you'd be around.
Bup, my life has been made immensely better because of your presence in it. What you gave to me in my nineteen years of knowing you goes beyond anything I could have ever hoped for from a grandfather. Selfishly, I don't believe we had enough time together. You have truly shown me what it means to be a great human being, and in doing so you became one of my best friends. Your willingness to do anything and everything for me to be happy solidified you as my only true grandfather, but your unbreakable spirit and general love of life until your very last moments made you my hero. I don't think anyone will ever truly comprehend what exactly you and Nana mean to me. My heart hurts as I write this. There's certainly nothing like a grandparent.
P.S. I hope you don't mind, I've been wearing your old state police sweatshirt everywhere... and one day I WILL have ownership of that car!

Bup, You have made my life immensely better by just being in it, and though it's selfish of me I would have loved to be able to have more than just nineteen years with you. The memories I have of you are easily some of my most cherished... and chaotic. Your willingness to look after me all those times I didn't want to go to a baseball game, or those times you would take me fishing have made you not only my favorite grandfather (by far) but one of my best friends. I have never and will never consider anybody else but you my grandfather, and you did a hell of a job showing me what it means to be a good one.
I can only imagine that you're giving God one hell of a time up there. I hope he's enjoying your "wet willies" as much as Nana and I did. Thank you so much for being the person you were. You have affected my life in a way I don't think anyone will ever truly comprehend.

My heart goes out to Teds familiy. I worked with Ted as a member of the NHSP a few years back. He was a Top notch Cop and taught me a few things. He will be missed.
